When Ann discovered Sumi e` painting she fell in love with the simplicity of design and time-honored technique inherent to this medium. The traditional black ink art strives to capture the essence of the subject with minimal brushstrokes, fusing the perception of the artist’s eye with the traditional technique to create art stunning in its power, yet astoundingly simple at its core. She identifies each painting with her ‘chops’ and signature that are an expression of her artwork - one chop is defined Confidence and the other is Harmony. She further explains that these are the feelings she strives for as she executes each painting. During the gallery walk opening reception Ann will also display the ‘tools’ she employs to create her artwork.
